Don't forget you need IFTA stickers if you are leaving Ontario.

Takes 10 minutes at the issuing office near you to get 'em, and then tracking your mileages in each jurisdiction.

And then they use the IFTA mileages for your IRP renewal for the next year.

Easy to get in, easy to get into DEEP administrative trouble if your record keeping has a failure.

The cost of adding a state or province to IRP is based on the value of your truck multiplied by the sales tax of the province/state you are adding and then if your miles will be 10% in that jurisdiction then your IRP fee will be 10% of the calculated tax. There's a couple of other litlle extras but that's it in a nut shell. For the following year's re-newal you would use this years miles...just like LBF mentioned.
