Pics of new rig

Here's some pics of the new truck. I am very pleased so far. It is deff more my style and the engine runs great so far. It is a 475 MBN CAT with a 6NZ ECM, 13spd and under 100k on a CAT overhaul. 6" pipes and brand new clutch, tires/brakes all the way around. Paid $32k for it

Those are virgin tires, not recaps. I won't run recaps in S. Texas

heavyhaulerss 04-20-2011 01:32 AM

very nice. my fav color too.

YerDaddy 04-20-2011 12:25 PM

Good deal. Nice looking as far as Star Cars go. The engine makes it a good buy. Not a fan of those aggressive lug drive tires. Especially in your latitude.

Let us know when your sleeper gives birth. It looks pregnant

Man, I LOVE the color, the pipes look great, and for sure it is a head turner... Great Choice on the CAT Motor, mine is a MBN Cat Motor, the one many people said was trash, had mine going on 4 years now, over million miles and still running strong. Only engine work done since I have had it was overhead run, avg 5.4 mpg hauling logs with C-15, 475 hp, 13 speed, 393 gears, Hauling Logs and Hauling 86.000 to 88,000 each load.

Congrats on the GREAT LOOKING RIDE!!!

xcarsalesman 04-21-2011 04:10 AM

Nice color

What does "MBN" mean?

Its the engine prefix, ALL Cats have them, it usually denotes year/series, its on your engine serial number tag

Got it. Thanks! So i guess it's not ACERT...Is that a "bridge"?

Yes, it was the last model year before the ACERT engines came out. they call it a "bridge" motor because CAT did not come up with the EPA emissions motors in time, so they made the MBN engines till they finished the ACERT design. The standard MBN motor is basically the same as the 6NZ just with a different cam and ECM program. Luckily, you can swap in a 6NZ computer or just have the ECM reflashed over to the prior motor to get the same effects. I have been told by a few people that this motor will run well into the million mile range with proper care and maintance, it just gets bad MPG (not as bad as the ACERT) and is a dog. Luckily for me, this truck already has a 6NZ "Hot" tune done and Pittsburgh Power free-flow mufflers and a few other things. I just got back from vacation, but I'm anxious to get it on the road and see how she does. With the tune, it idles so smooth and the throttle response is amazing.

And as for the LUG tires, I had no say as they were already on the truck and were brand new, along with the steers. if I can get thru till next spring then i will be very happy and then going with some M726EL or TY577's

poorboy126 05-03-2011 09:25 AM

Nice looking LoMax Steel horse, look forward to hearing what kind of mpg numbers you will be getting. Love the color and it's a good truck for your application, a high rise sleeper would of just hurt your mpg more. When you get ready for tires you might want to consider Michelin Energy's also, they have a very low rolling resistense. Have a good one and be safe.

firebird_1252 06-21-2011 03:39 PM

hows the WS?

Very nice truck. My Classic was a bit darker blue. But, no... I won't be buying one. If I did that, I'd have to drive it to make the payments and justify having it. That would mean I'd have to deal with DOT and all the 4-wheelers again. I have not yet forgotten what it's like to be voted "Number One".

Steel Horse Cowboy 01-22-2012 04:50 AM

So far I have added a Bully Dog tuner and some other minor modifications. I am getting about 5.5-6.0mpg pulling a stepdeck. the truck itself has had a few problems, but just minor things here and there that any older truck will have. She has 750k miles now and the motor is still running strong (fingers crossed)

classictruckman 01-22-2012 11:54 AM

So are you still hauling for QC?

I didn't know that bullydog made anything for trucks larger than a 2 ton.
