Transition Windows
I got a new pair of glasses last week and I sprung for transition lenses and I'm enjoying them so far. It got me to thinking though why hasn't anybody developed this technology for trucks from the factory or in the form of an aftermarket tinting.
I think that it would be perfect, tinted during the day to protect you from the dangerous UV rays and clear during the night so you can see in the mirrors when your backing up. Transitions Lenses |
Don't they take a while to change tint? Go from bright sunlight into a dark tunnel and you may not want dark windows, can't quickly take them off like sunglasses.
|
Expensive. as for them taking a while to change, whats the difference then having them tinted that dark anyhow?
oh, as for your glasses, they will not work inside the truck. |
Yeah they don't completely work in the truck, they do work abit. And they do take a little while to change, but not that long. But with the coating on the window the windows would change tint, not the glasses.
|
That would be cool! Tinted in the daytime, and regular at night. Like someone said, it would be weird in some places. Driving in a tunnel.
My glasses I am currently wearing are transitions. They are great, but it seems like it takes forever for them to lighten up, when you go in doors from being outside. |
I gave up on transition lenses inside the truck completely. The truck windows block the UV light that's required to make the tint change. I just buy 2 pair of glasses - 1 pair sunglasses, the other 'normal' lenses. I'm going for new glasses next week. I may go with sunglasses + a pair of transitions for normal wear.
Actually, what would be REALLY cool would be the electric tinted windows. When you park at the end of the day, instead of pulling the curtains (with light still getting in everywhere), you flip a switch and the glass turns completely black, blocking out ALL light. |
About 10 years ago i had this idea, using that same technology for windows, although i was thinking residential/commercial not auto/truck. I came to the conclusion that the material would be too expensive for making this marketable....
