Don't qualify for Landstar.

Just got off the phone with them, I do not qualify with them due to one fact: Must have operated for more than a 600 mile radius that can verified for at least one year in the past 3 years.

I told the guy I hauled logs for the past 4 years hauling 150 one way, he was real nice, but said there wouldn't be anyway I could get qualified with them.

Any other suggestions on companies to check with

Well you said your getting your MC numbers. If thats the case maybe buy an end dump and work that. Use the load boards to get started intill you find some good contacts. Just an idea. I dunno how much money you got to spend to get started. Or you can try pulling cans out of the port. Any local gas haulers you can lease on to around you?? Dont give up.

I don't know where you're at specifically in AL but you might give Schneider a call and check about running intermodal. I know they used to have guys running daycabs. I know they run out of Atlanta but it wouldn't surprise me if they have an operation in Birmingham or Mobile. Like any of the can haulers, the rates don't sound great, but if the operation is setup well, you can make decent money and be home.

I'm actually trying to lease on with landstar as well to save money (down payment of insurance, authority, and base plates). My other option is to use there broker load board. But i have to come up with the cash down for insurance, plates, and authority which totals out at about 3700 bucks. The 06' pete 387 and 06' doonan 50' drop deck trailer I'm buy right now is already breaking the bank, figured I could start out leased on and save money out the gate. You may want to check out there broker site. There are no min. requirements on driving history, because your using your own authority and insurance. If you have the extra cash.

I thought you were getting your own MC? Then you can haul Landstar loads as well as anyone else's.
