Area not good to go loaded or try to get a load from?
 

Ok, looking for advice on places to avoid in a 500 mile radius from my home which is Rainsville AL 35986, check out: Radius Around a Point on a Map that will show you the 500 mile radius. Since I have been hauling logs for the past 4 years, I have lost touch with bad areas to stay away from and not go into and get a load out from, so hoping that everyone can give me some advice and or suggetstion on this.

Getting ready to start filing for my authority and wanted to start thinking about some things first.

I'm guessing you are going to run a flat?

Honestly, anything paying good coming to Chicago will do. There is plenty of freight here to get you back home. Stay away from Florida, and the upper east coast. Not sure what Texas has to offer, it tends to change every few months.

Sorry didn't post, but will try dry van running first.

If you pull a 13'6" dry van with your flat roof truck, you WILL lose about 1.5 mile per gallon AT LEAST in fuel mileage. Trust me: I worked with vans using my medium height truck, and the difference between that and then having a full size roof deflector was 1 MPG. Your truck is lower than mine. Hence, 1.5 MPG loss.
