because I more often than not my rate is already more than what the market will bear.

Ditto. Plus, it hasn't raised my operating costs.

"it hasn't raised my operating costs" No! but if we are not carefull CSA could eliminate all operating cost?

Not really sitting, but I do make alot of calls. I probably pass on 25 loads for every one that I move. I just booked a load 30 minutes ago for my 3rd inbound load this week. The broker was at $1.90/mile and he moved up to $2.59. Same thing with another we are delivering today....he was at $1.66 but he came up to $2.35. These are legal SD 1+1 NT. For $1.70 - $1.90 a loaded mile, they can just keep it. I really don't need the loads that badly.

Well, yes that is the idea. Be careful. If you weren't careful before then yes you should probably budget some more for maintenance. In my case, we already had 50 inspections in the last 2 years so unless they change the inspection criteria, I am not afraid of being inspected.

How's CSA going to put us out of business? Targeted or additional enforcement doesn't bother me. I spent more than most on maintenance and little stuff before CSA so there's really no change for me...hence, the reason my rates were higher. Rates will eventually rise from CSA but that will be driven by the other side.

Good for you rank. Sounds like a lot of work! I also spend alot more time on phone than i would care too!
But in this economy it seems to be standard practice .

Yes it is alot of work. No way I could get the rates I get if I was driving and dispatching.

I drive and also dispacth myself! Makes it rough! I hired a dispacther once and she never got me a proffitable load in two weeks which i had paid her in advance, so i told her id just do it myself!
sometimes i spend more time looking than driving! but i just wont haul cheap freight! im also on truckers report and alot of drivers there say they will haul the $1.50 crap. that right there is the reason rates will remain low!
