BANK SALE: My old 2005 IH 9400

Aparently the guy who bought my IH decided not to pay and the bank has asked me to help with selling it so here's the info. I know they will take $15,000 for the truck and it's well worth $25,000.......

2005 IH 9400i

435hp ACERT C-15 w/ 500,019 miles

Auto-Shift Gen-2 (clutch pedal) with new X-Y Controller and ECM (replaced 1,500 miles ago)

3.23 rears

22.5LP tires

New altenator and fan hub.

$500 stainless heated Moto-mirrors

New shocks up front

Truck will need brakes/tires and batteries and it's ready to rock.
I drove this truck for 100k mile w/o a problem (till the trans controller went out and I had it replaced under warranty)
Truck is great and rides smooth, quiet and has pleanty of power and gets around 7mpg pulling a box van.

Here are some pics from when I bought it in 2008. truck looks exactly the same and is in great condition and the interior is perfect.

Damn, that's a good looking truck! The more I look at Internationals the more I'm beginning to like them!

Chunker 01-07-2011 03:16 AM

I like where they put the shifter box, much better than on the side of the seat as in my Volvo.

Steel Horse Cowboy 01-07-2011 02:25 PM

Yeah, it was nice having all that room. In the sleeper behind the drivers seat there are no cabinets or anything, its wide open. You could fit a fridge in there....I mean one from house LOL!

The truck is great, and I've been kicking the idea of buying it back just to flip it for more $ but not sure if I want to dump the money into a truck I'm just going to sell. If I didn't have my FTL I would never have sold it.

In case someone is building a fleet of International trucks :) I could also sell my International 9400, the one in the picture. Its only drawback is the color: few people like 'yellow'. The original paint was dark green and the previous owner had it repainted for some reason. CAT C15, 550 HP, 2050 lb-ft torque, performance exhaust, extrude-honed exhaust manifold, 13 speed, 3.42 ratio, new steer tires. The tranny was rebuilt in 2009 for higher torque rating (1,850). A new heavy duty LIPE clutch (2050 torque rating) was installed at the same time. Just passed a 120 day DOT inspection required by Landstar (had to put in new brake shoes on the front left steer and left front drive wheel). It's a 2004 truck but it only had 165k miles when I bought it in 2007. The mileage now is 520k miles. Great pulling power and great fuel mileage. The reason I'm thinking of getting a new truck is because of taxes... asking $20,500.

Steel Horse, do you know if there's any oil samples done, will it need brakes, tires before it can be moved or just soon. Seeing as the bank owns it any idea's how to get it to a company terminal for insp. short of shipping it? Any idea what the idle time is? I've been toying with the idea of getting a truck BUT it depends on if I can keep the run I have now so who know's?

Steel Horse Cowboy 01-07-2011 10:49 PM

Thanks Old Timer.....

Repete, I owned the truck since 2008. I personally have never had an oil sample done, but I do know that I had the oil changed every 15k miles and it never burned any. The tires and brakes will need done soon. Prob need tires to pass an inspection and the brakes may pass. I do know it will need new batteries tho as 2 of them are bad cuz it goes dead after 2 days sitting. but will run if jumped. The truck has been sitting at my place since July and I go fire it up weekly and It runs great. Super quiet motor. As far as getting to a terminal that would all up to you. It can be driven there, or if you wanted it hauled, but you'd have to take care of both. I'm just trying to help the bank. I can tell you that the last trip I took in this truck was from Chicago to Los Angles then up to Wyoming, down to Texas and then back to Chicago. I ran 5200 miles that week and avg 6.8mpg pulling a van.

Thanks for getting back with the info, This must be a small local back that repo'd it.I'm still waiting to hear back about leasing on with my Co. they do have O/O but not on dedicated runs.

Is this some new breed thing, putting fresh shoes on just one side of an axle? Brake shoes are tax deductible. Why not do it right?

I didn't know there was anything wrong with replacing the shoes on one side only. My goal was to pass the mandatory 120-day Landstar DOT inspection. Which I did.

really there is not anything wrong with it, just would make sense to replace both sides at the same time.... I too had to this tho when i was with LS. left front at my 1st 120-day, right fron at my 2nd 120-day.

I just had ALL my shoes and drums replaced on my FLD. Cost me $1450 but it stops like never before!!

I too noticed brake performance improved after the 2 shoes on my truck were replaced. I complained to MacKinnon's shop about the brakes but they were not able to find anything. I think they were just checking the adjustment and not the shoes/pads themselves.

I got "mountain brakes" on the front (truck is spec'd for heavy haul) and the stock '99 front drums were rounded out of spec by .5" I replaced the shoes and drums, then said well if the fronts are bad, I'm betting the rears are too, so i had them replaced.

For the last 4 years, I have used my trailer brake handle to slow my truck when exiting the interstate, thus only using the trailer to stop (lighter loads only) and thus my last set of shoes lasted me over 7yrs LOL.. just a tip.

I've heard of a lot of drivers who use their trailer brakes to slow down their truck but then I've heard some old hands say that it's a no-no.

Just depends on how heavy the load is. I run basically empty all the time (heaviest is 5k in the tank) so I can basically stop with the jakes, but with the straights it's a bit noisy, so I just use the trailer brake handle. As for it being a no-no, I guess it's not a good thing to do, but if it will save me $500 a year in shoes, I do it.

Hi there Steel Horse Cowboy, I read your message that says you are of town and
just got in and that you were going to call today.. (I know that the day isn't over yet but it is getting late). I need to know where to see the truck so we can take off your hands or the banks hands.. If you could call me at
937-241-6823 I would appreciate it..

Thanks much,

Al Smith (rooferman)
(don't laugh at the alis, I used to be good at what I did)

Steel Horse Cowboy 01-24-2011 02:38 AM

Yes Al, I lost my cell phone while snowblowing the driveway and found it this morning with the same snowblower. I won't have a phone till i get back in next Thursday but the truck is located in Westville, IN 46391. I won't be able to reply after this till thursday. Sorry for the inconvience

rooferman 01-27-2011 11:35 PM

Hey there Steel Horse Cowboy, had a bad week and it is not over yet.. Could you call me Friday morning?? Need to see it. It isn't
getting any better here, since the company found out I am leaving.. Address where the truck is at, or the bank phone number would help.
Did some checking, (since I don't have time to do the work) and it is going to run an additional $7500.(not a problem won't to put it in 6 months from now).
Please call I have the money, just need to get moving on it.

Thanks

Al Smith

Yes it was. I was really thinking about it hard. I had the cash but it was a damn autoshift thing or whatever it is. lol

arky 02-01-2011 03:00 PM

I'm driving one truck and got another sittin in the driveway. I can't decide which one I want to keep now, I can't imagine what how indecisive I would be with 3 to choose from! lol. I did consider trying to buy it just for resale though.

I was going to buy it to run Cans out of the port in the winter time to off set the tri/axle sitting. But that autoshift really turn me off. Plus it was already RED which is my color lol.

Steel Horse Cowboy 02-01-2011 08:39 PM

Well, my FLD may be for sale soon too, but its blue. Ready to go, in fact, I'm running it right now LOL
