After years of driving in Russia, I imagine Solo's familiar with DAF's history of reliability. Given that none of the manufacturers have been terribly successful in that department since the EPA mandated changes, it's not unreasonable to be skeptical of claims that longevity has been nearly doubled. Not to say it can't be true, but a healthy dose of, "I'll believe it when I see it" is certainly warranted.

If my plan works out as I believe it will, I will have a 386 with a Paccar Engine by next year with Ultrashift. Time will tell,,, ;)

This is just one read on the Engine however, the more I read about it the more impressed I am. It could very well be the Engine of choice in the States. I hope to have it under my hood next year.

When i was driving there, we didn't even dream, o heard about such. But i'm in contact with some of the today drivers over there, and tho all they say, european engine has it positive moments, it didn't run nearly as long as american. And yes, I'm a CAT man!

Ahhh, yeah the medium duty engines. Cummins has been building those since '07. Different bird than the class 8's. But you're right...still a Paccar ;)

Fact:
Paccar bought DAF Motors Ag, in Europe 3 years ago for nothing more than to steal their ideas, the engine in question is made by DAF and Paccar claims it to be their own, so much for "american Ingenuity"
