Yep things are picking up here also...but I've been to this rodeo before. It's the end of Q1.

I am not counting on rates staying up. Things are very volatile. I sill expect rates to stay low throughout the rest of the year, but hope that I am wrong. I will enjoy the higher rates while they are with us.

I had a load from Lavergne TN to South Union KY. paid $3.40 a mile. too bad it was only 70 miles.

The mileage rate can be good on some of the short runs. The problem comes in when you don't have time to get another load. You tie your truck up all day for $200-300. Even with the high mileage rate it would be difficult to make a living doing those type of loads. It is much easier to haul these loads with a van than a flat. It seems that even the short runs want you to tarp, even if the weather is clear. :roll3:

Anyone have any updates? I keep hearing that things seem to be getting better. Sounds like there is more freight and that rates are starting to improve as well......

How long did you wait at Precision Strip to unload? Or was it Corman?

You can't go by mileage on short runs like that. $400 minimum if I'm feeling generous. Normally I won't mess around for less than $450 - $650 on that short-tarp-heavy stuff.
