No trailer, looking for a dispatch service.

Not for me buddy!I personlly would ike to do everything myself.
I have a friend who recently went and got his authority. He has no trailer and he was doing that JB hunt trailer interchange bullcrap. They had his ass in Jersey running the turnpike. at 200 mile runs making $400.What about the damn tolls he had to pay. When he started doing that JB Hunt deal, I warned him about the whole thing being fishy. Not just that, you can't run without a trailer. He is learning the hard way but he needs to keep his driver busy.

He is about to quit doing this JB Hunt deal and he is looking for a dispatch service with their own trailers.
I know they are out there because I talked to some a year ago but I can't remember their nmes.

There are some power only loads around. He can buy a used van for less than $5,000. He might find one for half that amount. It would certainly improve his options. He can check with Schneider and CH Robinson. I have seen power only with both of them. If he run his own authority he really needs to have his own trailer. He could rent one for about $150/week or perhaps less.

Sorry for double threading.

GHEEZ!I wish I knew how to delete a double thread. If only this other thread had popped up last night, I wouldn't have double threaded.

To tell you the truth Scott, this guy does not have the cash for even a trailer. His truck broke down in TN while doing the JB Hunt deal. The drive shaft(1st drive) came off which messed up the cam on the wheel.Towed the truck to freightliner and put his driver on a grey hound bus home.He is scrambling for that $4000 bill from freightliner.

I told him about calling Schneider but I never knew about Ch Robinson having that kind of a deal.
Scott, renting a flatbed will be a different issue but the cash for one will be out of the question. Then again he will have to buy all the equipment.

Henry,

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. It sucks to be in a situation like that. I would consider renting the trailer to the "right person". If he is interested, have him contact me.

Thanks!!

Giving up!

I give up on any kind of encouragement and advice. He chickened out on doing platform freight. He is scared something may drop on the highway and he has no experience. Then I told him to stick with the 80-95cpm box van that is offered on the boards.

I'm sorry you didn't cure your buddys dry van disease. Sometimes it can be a tough prognosis. He'll wake up eventually!
