Recently pulled about 43,000 lb payload over the WV turnpike and then on hwy 460 into VA and the fan never had to cycle once pulling those hills with the AC on.

You mean you disabled EGR in the ECM/computer settings? Maybe I need to do something like that on my CAT... I removed their proprietary muffler but didn't change anything in the ECM...

I don't think your CAT has an EGR. ACERT is supposed to be a catalyst in the muffler, variable valve timing & really high turbo boost as an alternative to an egr. CAT spent hundreds of millions on it before conceding it was/is a failure.

Many have an EGR, CAT just tries their damnedest not to call it that. It takes exhaust after the DPF and uses an intake flap to force "scrubbed" exhaust into the engine pre-turbos.

Did your muffler has a catalytic converter in it? Cause i have 2 mufflers at $2500 each, and sure not gonna buy new one at that price. So you are saying your test came out good, on all parameters?

Hell, i might put a "Liberator" muffler, chipper than that....

Do you think they got enough plumbing on the side of that thing? Our mechanic claims CAT spent half a billion on ACERT and still couldn't get it to work.

Yes, I had that expensive original muffler from CAT with a converter inside. I thought my emissions would go thru the roof ... I went to the local exhaust shop Texis Exhaust in Mississauga, Ontario, and they took off the CAT muffler with the converter and gave me a performance free-flow muffler. I love how the engine sounds now and emissions actually went down! The people who designed the converter must have been on drugs. I also think my fuel mileage has slightly improved, maybe by 1/10 of mpg.

So, throw out the CAT mufflers and put on something that doesn't restrict the air flow. Your engine will thank you :)

ACERT does work, I just think they were having a hell of a time trying to meet the 2010 EPA regs.

The EPA cut the NOx limit by 99%, everyone is having problems. 2010 emissions limits are already near zero, yet there are still the 2012 and 2016 emissions cuts to worry about....

Nope... just 30 seconds of my time, no tools, no parts, no hooking up a computer. Just a simple unplug of the lower plug on the EGR.
