3PLs and Loardboards.
Anyone ever dealth with ShippersPoint Home
Are most of their loads really 48kibs?I would assume lumber, but their rates are not that bad since you are dealing with shippers. As far as Schneider Brokerage and their Freight Place, I wonder why they don't have much on that loadboard. Another independent from IA said he has no laptop and so he just calls his Schneider agent/broker for loads.Do I need to call my terminal broker rather than look on their "Freight Place for loads? |
What's 3PL's?

Yes, that was Gary.
I will asume no one has subscibed to shipperspoint and Schneider Brokerage for flat/step loads. They have more company trucks than Landstar O/Os but their freightplace barely have loads for platform freight.Landstarbroker.com(approved carrier board) even have more loads than they do. |
Schneider's board is free. All you need do is sign up with them. I have never seen much flat or other type of open trailer freight on their board. They sold off most of their flat business to Maverick or TMC a couple of years or so ago.

I feel I wasted my time getting approved with them.I had to go through much paperwork to get approved with them.Do Maverick and TMc have loads for approved carriers? I also recieved a call from a JB HUNT recruiter who later emailed me this. I pretty much feel it is a bait and switch.I have another friend checking it out before I jump on it. I appreciate your time today The simplest way I can explain this offer to you is this: "Your trucks and your drivers, hauling our trailers and our loads." You would maintain all operating authority and ownership of the truck and the driver. Your driver would NOT have to follow any J.B. Hunt rules around safety or logs. Although we want you to be safe and follow all the DOT rules regarding logs. This is 100% dedicated round trip program. The routes could be irregular each time, but if you start at your house, and want to run 10 days then at the end of your 10 day trip you will end up back at the house. Let's talk about the requirements to get you started! The insurance is going to be the most important item. You must have 1 million in general liability, 1 million in auto liability, 100,000 in cargo insurance, and 25,000 for trailer interchange. The first step will be to get our packet filled out. Let me send you our carrier packet then you can fax it back to me at 479-820-5989. 1. Works good for OTR drivers who operate in all states east of I-35. 2. Truck maintains ALL operating authority and ownership. This is NOT a traditional independent contractor program. 3. Must be available to run a minimum 10 days, if driver wants good miles. 4. Average pay to truck has been 1.20 to 1.40 per mile loaded in our percentage program. 5. Average miles is 2000-2500 per week on the OTR drivers. 6. About 50% of loads are drop/hook of J.B. Hunt trailers. 7. Paid in 10 business days from the receipt of your POD & your Invoice. Can Fax BOL's for quicker response. 8. Support group working ‘behind the scenes’ is available to ensure you have everything to be successful. 9. 800 number for Cargo Claims, Power Detention, Safety Dept, Fleet Support, and Lumpers. Most of the major carriers broker freight. I have had both Maverick and TMC call me about carrying their freight. JB Hunt does have a program where the carrier is paid a percentage of the line-haul. They contacted me last year about doing their drop and hook program. The guy who called told me that they paid 80%. When I got the contract I found that they only pay 70%, yet want you to pay for additional insurance that you really don't need, such as general liability and pay to insure their trailers. I told them that I would pay out less money and make as much if I leased to someone such as Landstar. He told me that they patterned the program to be like Landstar. I did talk with a few owners who were running their program. They seemed to be doing pretty well with it, according to what they said. If they paid 80% I would probably have paid for the extra insurance and tried it. It is a lot of extra money for insurance to not make any more than 70%. |
