Nice surprise today

Nearly a year ago I bid on four gov. loads, 4 M1A1's going to Herlong Ca. Two from Fl. and two from Ga. Back then rates were still good and I bid them as such (with my usual formula, what I hauled the last load for plus 15%). Never heard anything and forgot it. Today I got contracts back to sign :) Guess the gov. haven't heard rates went way down. I beat the mailman back to the P.O. and mailed them back overnight, priority, before 6am delivery :) :) :) :)

Yep :) Was going the "Retire, not retire" route now I have to wait at least 3 months :). Went out today and plugged truck in as I haven't moved it in two months so thought the batteries might be low, will try starting it tomorrow.

That's just a little load for you. I hope you bid it cheap so you can sleep at night. What are the dims? Do they weigh in ~100,000 lbs?

Very nice. I am still trying to figure out the correct codes that apply to my operation. I'll figure it out one day.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Looks like your getting your piece of the government bailout!!!

Of course..your bid was probably a lot cheaper last year, than the current bids they are seeing from brokers like Cardinal Freight, Blackhawk Trucking...or even Landstar.

Are you going to make all 4 moves?

Yeah, not making as much as I did up to 08 but still way better than the rates they are offering for OD loads now. Had a broker call a week or so back and wanted me to move a 12 wide 12 high 110,000 lbs piece for $1.60 a mile, just laughed and hung up phone. One advantage I have is GF drives pilot car and if deadheading back I can deck my jeep and put her pickup on as well.
Yep, I will move all 4. There is no rush on them as they already have about 2000 of them sitting in rows out there. They are just collecting up all the old models and sticking them in storage.

Some of these brokers are making a killing, Walking Eagle. I was offered $1.70 a couple of weeks ago for an over sized load. It was legal weight and only wide. I have no doubt some poor sap took the load. The broker was probably getting at least twice that amount if not more.
