I don't know about Wolf Creek pass but I see the smilies, so....

I start out in Janesville, WI. I haven't driven 70 through Colorado since I was a trainee with a load of feathers about 13 years ago. I've always since avoided it like the plague. I can't remember if it's as bad as I thought.

I was looking at it, I may be able to shave some miles cutting through KS on the two lanes. Without that, though, it's the I70 mountains or it's about an extra 150 miles, not sure which is worse.

Since your starting in WI country...drive west on I-80, then drop down I-15 into LA.

Ah yeah, that's just an exta 72 miles, much better than the lower route. Thanks

As your driving by Rocket Springs...toss out a wave hello for me.:p:p

Stop at Little America WY...have some chicken out of the hot case in the Fuel Center...take one for the road...good stuff. ;);)

It should be even a little less than that, I usually come up with about 60 miles to go through Salt Lake. I like going that route too. I just went that way 2 weeks ago. In the winter out of WI or that area you could go 39 to 88 west to 35 south out of Des Moines through Kansas City to Emporia to 50 then cut down 61 to 54 all the way to Tucumcari and pick up 40. It's only 15 miles farther than the Salt Lake route.:)

Ok, thanks for the tips, gents. I'll check out the chicken, I know that little area back there with the leather couches is pretty nice. Is there anything the Vegas way comparable to the Wendover buffet?

Thanks also too for that winter route. That could come in handy sometime.
