Buying used from the south

If you happen to live in the colder northern regions, or even happen to do most of your truck driving there ( or in cooler climes in general ), would you purchase a used truck from the much warmer southern states ?

Trucks that spent most of their time in the south usually have less rust. Are you concerned that a southern truck would not be suitable for hard winters?

Yes, that is precisely it, my friend. Are the trucks from the south built the same way as the ones for the north, when it comes to winter capabilities ?

More than likely, unless it's the WAY NORTH, in which case they have more insulation.

Where a truck is located wouldn't matter all that much to me. After all, just because the owner lives in the south doesn't mean he earned all his money down there. A southern truck will rust just as quickly in the winter as a northern truck, depending upon where it was driven.

But hell - most trucks today are all aluminum and fiberglass anyway, so the only rust you need to worry about is on the frame and axles, and that can be easily taken care of with a sandblaster.
