My fathers household expenses are paid by other income. Does that mean if his base cost for running the truck is $1.30 and he averages $1.80/mi he is making a profit of $.50/mile?

In Tennessee a permit to drive a commercial vehicle is a CDL. It says so at the top of the license.

So, my dad (having no previous experience as a truck driver) should quit being an owner operator and go work for someone else?

Can you say $.25/mi.
Forced dispatch.
On the road 3 weeks at a time.

That sounds like the ticket right there.

It says CDL on my permit too but Big Diesel thinks a permit doesn't count as a CDL. Only reason I say it's a "restricted" CDL is cause you have to have a CDL holder in the truck anytime you drive on a permit.

It still does not qualify..... sorry.... When you turn 21 ( 3 years from now ) able to run interstate, and get a real job driving a truck. Then you will have a real CDL.

Until then you are just a wannabe BBR playing supertrucker on the internet while living at home with your momma......

So your saying if I had my CDL I'd still be a wannabe BBR? For your info I may have a job hauling asphalt so that does still me make me a BBR supertrucker? That should qualify me for something!

Again where do you get all this info?

There is a fairly large flatbed carrier that will take someone with zero experience, train them, including correct securment procedures and basically gurantees $1k a week and home every weekend, and you have zero operating cost and headaches, except to feed your pie hole.Oh and you have to get their truck washed once a week.....bummer.

And considering where your Dad lives I bet there are numerous local dedicated routes that he could be home every night.

But instead there are some that have to have their "own" truck and try to do it all by themselves with little experince and in the end hurt the majority of others out here by driving down the rates........rolling eyes right back at ya

I think that you all need to take a trip on the Love Boat. There is alot of bonding going on here. I bet that you would either have more respect for each other or hate each other even more. If that is anyway possible. But I do get a kick out of reading some of all of your bashings.

I bet you do but I'm not gonna sit here let someone pick on me either. I was pm'ing someone here on CAD and they told me that BigDiesel is nothing but a bully and I'm more mature than he is. I'm not saying who said it either!
