Authority is $300 for life. How do you get $100 a month?
Figure I would get in on the fun :D

By the way, my cost with wages and no profit for company is $1.67 a mile. It must be all miles driven or you can throw that out the window.
So if I did $2.00 a mile thhat would mean .33 cents a mile profit.

By the way, that is hub. Deadhead will increase that #.

Lets take an owner operator that has the following monthly expenses:

authority $100
road taxes $500
maintenance $1500

Another thing I would add to sidman's observation is the road tax and maintenance charges. I rarely spend more than $75/quarter, which is $25/month. If you watch where you purchase fuel you can keep this cost to a minimum. Spending $1,500 each month on maintenance is a lot of money.

He tries to fuel in franklin KY. One, it is near his house. Two, he gets $.20/gal back in a gas card each month. Three, mom said something about the road tax or something is better if they buy fuel in KY.

I put $1500 is because anything lower and people would have said maintenance was too low.

It is never better to fuel in KY, unless your only other choice is IN.
