Cancel it. That's my freight lane, and you can't haul into it.

So, Rev. Where do I bounce around from there if I want to stay in the money?

After you get to Michigan, you lease to Landstar, then get in good with the military agents. There's tons of flatbed military in Michigan.

Actually, you could probably find yourself some very nice loads heading to PA, but getting out of PA might be a bit harder, unless you want to run back up to the Northeast. There never seems to be a shortage of loads from Maryland or PA heading up to NY and further Northeast. Heading Southeast is also pretty easy from Michigan. Depending upon where you are in Michigan, you may want to try to get to Ohio if you want some real choice as to where to go. I'm down by Cincinnati, and I've been getting phone calls all day on loads. Stupid bastards kept waking me up.

Ok, thanks. I'm dropping off in Fraser, MI.

Rev.Vassago 09-17-2008 07:42 AM

I know you have a "no Canada" rule going on, but I know guys who do nothing but run back and forth across the border from that area who are making a killing.

You should have no problem finding a load out of the Detroit area. Michigan and Ohio seem to always have more freight than there are trucks.

allan5oh 09-17-2008 07:49 AM

Man I should get into that, considering I've crossed the border probably some 500 times.

But the market here is brutal. Everything is like $1.50 a mile out of here. No thanks.

Maybe deck would be better.

My phone already started to ring. Just searching the Detroit area puts a flag up with all the brokers on who's looking. There's even lots of loads going back home. Maybe I'll try this for a few weeks or a month but not sure I can handle it. It's just so nice riding along I80 for days at a time and no traffic. And then, I'm stuck in bum F*** noplace.

I've been telling ya for a while now - this is the lane to make money. If you can get in good with an outbound shipper from the Northeast, you are friggin golden, and running 500-600 miles a day is easy here. The traffic in that lane isn't all that bad either. The worst part of it is the road construction in PA. You get nailed no matter which way you take across. Lately, I've been running I-80 a lot instead of I-76, just for a change of pace. Once the snow flies, it should get even better, because all the wimps will be heading south.

Ya, I know it's good around there. I've just been spoiled by the long rides, open country, truck stop parking spots big enough for 2 trucks and all by myself in a million places off the beaten path at night.

It would be nice if I could figure out a triangle or square to run. Getting home has always been a problem but that area seems to have plenty running home at good rates so taking a beating getting out there seems to be worth it.
