The funny thing is....

...... nobody did the math.

A guy ( called himself a O/O ) called the local radio show and stated he just ran a load of 350 + miles for $700 + dollars and after he finished fuleing he only had $138.00 dollars left over. Then the radio guys were all " this poor guy " kind of thing. :roll:

You guys are smart........ tell everyone what is wrong with this story. :wink:

Trukrswyfe 04-01-2008 02:31 AM

How did he have 138.00 left?

Should have cost him 900. for fuel.

sorry just a guess, :lol:

Ridge Runner 04-01-2008 02:41 AM

Well 350 miles at 5 miles per gal = 70 gal. ...70 gal @ $4.00/gal = 280.00

700.00- 280 = 420.00 So this guy is full of BS.

I tried to call the station and correct the information but I couldn't get thru. :evil:

He filled his tanks, no doubt.
However 350 mile trip would only cost him about $233 in fuel. 350miles/6mpg=58gallonsx$4.00=$233.

Well I just used even numbers and used the LOWEST MPG to prove my point. The guy was full of sh!t.

Ahhh Ridge...I was typing my answer out when you put the anwer up :lol: :wink: (Honestly), Only difference I was using 6mpg.
This isnt "rocket science" people, whats with the radio stations (even that so call O/O) not realizing the error.

flood 04-01-2008 03:11 AM

the numbers work if he's getting 2.5 mpg :shock:

your right ridge he's full of :dung:

Drew10 04-01-2008 03:23 AM

Thats big money for half day work (difference in fuel milage)

@ 5mpg=$280
@ 6mpg=$233
diff=$47
Proof right there that slowing down and saving fuel can make a big difference.

350miles @65=5.4hrs
@60=5.8hrs
diff=30minutes

Well, in all fairness, math has never been a strong point for most O/O's. Most get glossy-eyed when you ask them what their cost per mile is.
