OK,...I get it, but when I crossed into Colorado, and saw the sign that said "Attention Truckers Engine Brake Muffler Required" I turned off my engine brake,..the DOT guy made me turn it on,..I had it off.

While I try to carry everything I could think of the do roadside repairs,...I did not have the straps to rehang my muffler,..I try,..but there would not be any room for freight if I carried another whole truck/trailer with me to repair the truck/trailer that would carry the parts truck/trailer.

If I knew the area better I would have stopped before the coop,....get this, I went through the DOT scale on I-70 in Limon,. exhaust hanging on the ground,.....loud as hell,..drove over the scale an was given the go ahead :roll:

What should he have done if he cant drive it legally, cant fix it himself, and is a couple miles from a shop? Push it? Leave it? LOL

DH, I hope you don't think I was criticizing what you did. Who knows, I may have done the same thing given the situation. I was merely pointing out that the DOT inspector wasn't wrong, based on the regs.

You know what the inspector would say, "Call somebody." :lol:

Its been 20 years since I've been on ski's, the last time I fractured 3 vertebrae (L1,2&3) the doctors told me I'd never walk again if I didn't have a bar drilled up through them. I practically crawled out of the hospital to my car and went home,..they scared the crap outta me. Back then the doctors were pushing experimental back surgeries rather than rehabilitation. When they came and told me that I would only have 50% range of motion after the bar was inserted into my spine,...I opted to let nature take its course.I couldn't feel my legs for 6 months, but eventually everything came back, and I've gone on to complete 3 ironman triathlons, and 4 Utah eco-challenge type races since.

The only side effect,..believe it or not,..I can tell when its going to rain a day before it does :shock: .

No downhill for me anymore :wink:
