The good stuff
 

Ok, I have told of the bad stuff on my maiden voyage, now I will talk about the good stuff. As I mentioned the truck did great except for the bad fuel and clogged water seperator. I suspect when I put on the new water seperator I will see a vast improvement in performance . I tried to blow thru the old one as hard as I could and it was impossible. I don't see how it even ran. It probably was clogged before but the bad fuel I bought must have finished it off.
I got a new water seperator today but it was late when I got home so I will put it on in the morn. When I first loaded the 4 cars at copart I noticed it was sluggish on hills , when I got to West Virginia , man I thought I would never make it up some of the hills. I just assumed it was a heavy load for this truck but now that I know about the clogged water seperator I feel confident it will have a ton of power. Also I got a good dose of city traffic in and around Washington DC and Baltimore. Those drivers there are either the worst in the world or the best for being able to drive there everyday.
They give no signals when changing lanes but I guess you guys are used to that . I am pleased that I got home safe. Also I experienced a few good hills in WV . One was I believe at Sandstone Mtn. As I recall it was 7% for 5 miles , probably not a big deal to a lot of you guys but never the less I am happy to have made it down safely. On the way home I saw a truck that had just went into the runaway ramp near the bottom, the truck was still in it and there were all sorts of emergency vehicles there. The truck look like it was not damaged but I didn't get the best look at it being that it was very late . The best part was thatmost of the other driver I talked with were very nice. All seemed eager to help when I was having the fuel problems , needed directions or needed to change lanes and soforth. Any way it was a great learning experience. BTW sorry for the crappy paragraphs in this post , I tired to edit and screwed it up, boy I have lost it ! :oops:

OH yeah, DC and Baltimore, great places to get some congested city drivng practice and then learn to stay far away from them. You will learn what time is a good time to go through or into the larger towns where you wont have all the traffic. Just be patient going through them and expect every 4 wheeler to want the space in front of you.

Yeah I've found the best time to go thru DC is betweem 0400 and 0415,but things do start to begin to build around 0414..... :lol:

Baltimore? DC? What part of Texas are those in? I forgot about those 2 places years ago. In fact, I just try to stay off 95 altogether.

Yea, I told the lady that got me these loads, I could make money driving thru all this slow traffic .It took as I recall around 4.5 hours to get from Salisbury MD, to the interstate 66 exit which can't be more than 100 to `120 miles . ( I have the exact milage somewhere) . then it took 2 hours to go from there to Front Royal VA

It can be a real challenge getting around Washington DC during rush hour. Traffic always seems to be fairly heavy most of the time, but move pretty well except for rush hour. You need to try to choose the times you travel around that area to avoid most of the back up.

Yep , I tried my best to beat the rush hour , but a wreck at the beginning of 66 stopped everyone.
