You ever heard the phrase "Ïf it sounds too good to be true..."? I've met too many ex-LS drivers to make the switch. I also have reservations about driving for a company that OOIDA has a lawsuit against. |
I have leased to Landstar. They have their pros and cons. I have more positives with them than negatives. A friend of mine is leasing back with them after running his own authority for several years. Unless you are a self starter and like to be in control of your business Landstar may not be the right company for you. Just like any other carrier, there are those who do well and others who fail. With Landstar, you are the one responsible for your own success. They are very picky about some things. It can take several weeks to lease on with them. They are very thorough. Is there something in particular you want to know about them?

There are a couple of things they are very picky about. One is your logs. I understand that they now want you to log 3 mph under the posted speed. When I was there they wanted you to log 2 mph under the posted speed. They have a program that will plot your route and can tell if you have logged incorrectly based upon the posted speed for those routes. And if you have an older truck they may want you to have it inspected every 90-120 days. Still you have the opportunity to make decent money with them. I know of several who have been with them for many years. These days it is unusual to find anyone who sticks with a carrier for more than a year or two, if that long. A word of caution when talking with their BCO's (owner operators). When they quote you how much they are making it is usually the gross, not net. In other words, they tend to quote the gross of the freight rate rather than their percentage. If you talk with any of them make sure to ask them if the rate they quote is "truck money."

..If you talk with any of them make sure to ask them if the rate they quote is ,,truck money''.
..if they know what the ,,truck money'' stands 4.. You'd be suprised to see how many of them have no clue.. |
