Are you running the A/C or defroster when you get the diesel fumes? If not, do you still get fumes if you switch to recirculate? If I'm sitting with just the regular heat on (which doesn't start the a/c) I'll get fumes. It's just exhaust from the blow-by tube finding it's way to the air intake. When I switch to recirculate it takes care of the problem.

beer goggles,......yeah thats it,...beer goggles
I am getting fumes when the windows are down reguardless if the vent fan is on or off. The only thing that stops it is if I open the windows 1/2" and turn on the vent fan, also my truck only has recirculate,..the outsdie vent was removed and blocked off. So, I have my trailer, the whole rig weighs in at 33,380lbs and I'm ready to go. I'm in Cadott Wisconsin. I've got a full tank of fuel, half a fudge brownie, its cold out, and I'm wearing my wireless headset,....hit it 8) !!! |
I wish you luck and hope things go well for you.

My first run:
De Pere, Wisconsin to Billerica, Mass. 1,220miles 160 mile DH from Cadott Wi 13,786lbs Tarps $2.29 per mile, add the DH and it comes to $2.02per mile, and I got to strap/tarp in a heated building. http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s...irstrun002.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s...irstrun003.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s...irstrun004.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s...irstrun005.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s...irstrun006.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s...irstrun007.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s...irstrun008.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s...irstrun009.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s...irstrun010.jpg Now get this,....this is weird. I bobtailed to Wisconsin,...my RPM's were 1,400 to do 55mph,.......this morning from Cadott To De Pere I was at 1,300 Rpm's to do 55mph,...now loaded to 13,786lbs I'm at 1,200rpm's to do 55mph. This makes no sense,....my RPM's should be going higher to do the speed,..not lower. Is this a diesel engine thing,...because this is freakin' me out!![img][/img][img][/img][img][/img] |

I'm loading up in Woburn Mass Tuesday morning. Too bad, I'm not that far from Billerica and could have checked out the Doggie Blues Mobile. Your RPM's won't change at all depending on the load. In 10th gear it should be exactly the same RPM reading no matter what the load for the same speed. My guess is that your gauge is wrong or your clutch is slipping. You will find rates are pretty low trying to get out of Mass when your ready to leave. I got a million calls for $.80 cents per mile. |
I'm going to have to go with faulty Gage,...a slipping clutch would increase engine RPM's especially under a load, and at highway speed. Now I have to find out why the Gage is sending the wrong info. Its probably electronic,..so some kind pf sensor is screwed up. Its weird how in incrementally went down the more I loaded up.
For 80cents a mile,....I'll DH to a better area before I take that rate!! |
Well today went good, my tachometer is reading correctly, I'm now 1,600rpm@ 55mph.
I stopped to help a guy get unstuck at a truckstop in Chicago today,..and ended up getting stuck in a rut while on ice. Well he got out and then gave me a little tug,...and off I go. Right now at the Toledo Flyin'J, cooking dinner and going to bed. |
