I liked the agent I worked for.

Landstar,not so much.

Yes you can get loads off the boards, they still get their cut.

Never heard of the card.

thanks guys so i guess if I singup with landstar and use another internet loadboard in conjunction with theirs would'nt that be double brokerage?

With their savingsplus program you get freight bill settlement within 2 days for 1.5% charge

But ther's one part of the term I didn't like wich states.

CARRIER agrees to pay all costs and expenses including attorney fees. incurred y BROKER in collecting or attempting to collect payment.

You must be a rookie. How long you been in trucking or how long do you plan to survive?"

Using Landstar brokerge is much like any other broker company, you can book one load a year or book all your loads from them. They don't care you are just another broker truck. You are a carrier, you can get loads from whoever you can.

i'VE VEEN IN TRUCKING FOR 15 YEARS THE LAST 7 AS A CARRIER

ALLWAYS HAD MY OWN ACCOUNTS SO WORKING WITH INTERNET LOAD BOARDS IS A NEW THING FOR ME . HEAVY DUTY

THAT GOES TO SHOW NO MATTER HOW MANY YEARS EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE THERE IS ALWAYS NEW THINGS TO LEARN.

AND I FIND THAT A GOOD WAY TO LEARN IS BY ASKING, REGARDLESS
OF HOW SIMPLE THE QUESTIONS MIGHT SEEM.

I was have been leased to them and running under my own authority still broker loads from them from time to time. The Savings Plus card is a Comdata card issued to carriers. It enables the carrier to get discounts on fuel, tires, etc., Your settlements are loaded on the card within 24 hours from when the bills are received. You can transflow them to Landstar for a small fee. That speeds your settlements up. The catch to using their Savings Plus card is that you cannot load it. Only Landstar can do that and in order for them to load it you must haul their loads. I have never used it to get any discounts. I have done well on my own with national pricing on tires. Some carriers use it and others do not. Some of us have our own fuel cards.

Whether you lease to Landstar or broker loads from them you can haul cheap or decent paying loads. It is pretty much up to you. Brokering loads from them is supposed to pay a higher rate than if you are leased to them. Since you mentioned the Savings Plus program, I assume you plan on brokering loads from then under your authority. They have a program called LCAPP for BCO's or owner operators. As far as I know the Savings Plus is only for carriers. According to what Landstar has told me under this program you can get the same discounts as if you were leased to them under this program.
