Anyone ever ship a car

I am looking for advice on getting a car shipped to me. It seems many websites I look at for quotes are brokers? I saw a u ship website that may or may not get me a carrier. I think brokers bid on that too.
The car ships from chicago area to me here in bristol, tn area.
Im not looking to ship it for 200.00 but Im not looking to pay 2000.00 either. I also dont want to go through a broker who may or may not pay the driver enough to treat my car with white gloves. Any comments are welcome. Any bashing of me is not.

Uship can work out pretty good for a private person, i`d expect to pay around 800$ unless of course you want it moved asap.

If you want white glove treatment.... contact Reliable Transport, the big orange trucks.... but it will coast ya.

I can guarantee you'll never get it shipped for $200 from anyone who knows anything about hauling cars. $800 - $1000 is more realistic.

Call a moving company. Sometimes thay have in's with people.
Call a flat bed company if you have ramps you can use on both ends. Public loading docks work well. They can tale it as an LTL.

Brokers DO bid on that site, as well as us carriers, if you can wait a week or two, you will get a decent bid when someone is going your way and needs your car to complete a load. On a high traffic corridor the wait is less. If you gotta go............you gotta pay. :)

50 to 60 cents a mile is about average on cars, give or take, on that site.

Thanks for your input, to answer some of the questions.

Yes it is driveable. Its a mazda RX-8 with 16,500 miles. No ramps to speak of.

The quotes I have gotten are from 300.00 to 685.00 with a 5 to 12 day transit time. The problem is I dont want it sitting in someones "terminal" that may just be a gravel lot in the middle of a crappy neighbor hood in chicago while they go around picking up enough cars to make a load. I want it to stay at the dealers indoor garage until its on the truck. I dont mind waiting for it. I may just fly up there and get it myself if I cant find a reliable driver. The dealer has a few leads on some local drivers who do this, that may put it on their truck on their way to michigan then down to florida or something.
