in load boards if it doesn't specifeid 53 ft it usualy means 48ft traILERS

SO MOST LOADS WOULD BE FOR 48FT TRAILERS,
RIGHT!

I know a 53ft vented gives me more of a chance at a load but i never hade a 53ft loaded all the way to the door there is always a good 7ft left empty.

I feel a 48ft is good enough to make money
but i will like some imput on this options.

1996 stoughton 48x52 @ $ 9400.00 dry van

1998 utility 53x102 @ $ 8900.00 vented

both in good condition, it seems the 53 ft would be a better choice but why is the stoughton more expensive?

That 98 Utility should weigh 11,500. Light is good. No doubt it is air ride. Already vented is a small plus.

Is the Stoughton air ride? It is 2 years older, $500 more and shorter. I don't know much about it, but I know there are plenty of Utilitys out there doing the job.

A 48' should work on most loads, but some shippers think that they need a 53' whether they really do or not. I have known of some who start with a 48' and then trade up, but given a choice I would go with a 53'.

Don't make the mistake of not having the trailer you want to buy looked at by a mech or by some one who truly knows his stuff. Even if, or especially if it is at a dealer, unless you can get the dealer to sign a seriouly worded warranty. I would have it looked at by someone outside the dealership even with a warranty. An ounce of prevention.........

I run reefers, not vans. I have two 48's and one 53. Legally, you're not supposed to load 34k past the 48 foot line anyway. I prefer the 48's for reefers but don't know about vans. I've never had much trouble loading my 48's but you can ALWAYS load a 53 and NEVER have to pass on a load because you don't have enough trailer. I keep my 48's because that's what my best driver and I like - personally.
