need a place to stay in VA tonight....

My driver needs a safe place to park tonight in VA. Approx 7:30, somewhere between Front Royal and Fredericksburg. Any suggestions?

I see you rank, get back to your preparation!

That's going to be a tough stretch, especially that late in the day. Maybe someone knows a business park or something where he can park on the street. Good luck.

nothing around that area, best to find a walmart or a large lot

If your driver is stopping in the Front Royal area, SB off I-81 to EB I-66, take the first off ramp on I-66, turn left at the bottom of the ramp, then go about 3/4 mile north of 66. There is a Shell Station there with truck parking...about 35 trucks can park. Mickey D and Taco Bell there close.
Further south on I-81 are the TS's at Strasburg.

There is a WalMart in Manassas near I-66. It isn't a super store, but there is a McDonalds and Arby's next door. I don't recall the exit number. It is on the South side of the interstate. There is also a small shopping center just South of there you can park.

thanks Orange.

that will be convenient if he's ready to stop that soon. He'll be SB on rt 522/340 anyway so he'll be driving right by.

I heard of another place also. A TS on rt 17 ~10 miles S of Warrenton. That will put him 40 miles from the shipper. Just depends on how far he wants to go tonight.

thanks again.

thanks Gman.

The rest area N of the scalehouse were full. The scalehouse is closed. So now he's going to try the Shell that Orange mentioned. Hopefully we can get this thing parked tonight sometime.

It is really sad that there are not more parking places for trucks in VA. We were in Brooklyn NY a few weeks ago, taking a load of live fish up for a guy whos truck had broke down. Anyway we were going on not much sleep and left NY at about noon and stopped to see my uncle in Balt. to let the Washington traffic die down....anyway the rest areas and the truck parking areas were ALL closed along 95 all the way down to Kings dominion!!

We finally were parked at 9pm.

I HATE running in VA!!

Dont park on rest area on/off ramps, had DOT wake me up in the middle of a night.

tootie04 10-09-2007 01:44 AM

Oh yeah and DONT park in the closed scales!! Bo had a DOT come across 81 at Roanoke in the RAIN to tell him to move on.....he didnt care he was out of hours and taking his 8hr break.

Virginia seems to be trying to one-up Ohio for most motorist unfriendly state in the union.
