Straight Pipes

I was thinking about putting straight pipes on my truck, most people say they are illegal but every 5 trucks have them, any thought on the subject ?

Fozzy 09-01-2007 03:48 PM

Yeah go for it!

sidman82 09-01-2007 04:07 PM

You can get straights with baffles in them. They look just as good and you won't go deaf. They will sound good also. 8)

Forget about using your Jake in many places without mufflers unless you want to risk a ticket.

8 inch bull haulers are your friend

Loud Pipes Save Lives !!!!! 8)

It's up to you to check the legal stuff, aside from from you only live once, do it your way. I'm with brian 8" straights is really the only way to go. :D :D

Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

i have a single stack. after taking my muffler off & running straight pipe, i got 20-30 more horsepower. my muffler would rust out every 2 years anyway & i would have to cut off other parts of the rusted together pipes to get off & replace.. no more. :D

Truckdobe 09-02-2007 03:33 AM

I ran straights for years and paid about 1 fine per year, usually $35-75.00. Then SC wrote me a fix-it ticket and a $150 fine; since then, I always run a small muffler or resonator somewhere out of sight. Since then, I haven't paid any fines, not even in CA.

brian 09-02-2007 06:22 AM

you can get stacks with muffler inserts so they look like straights but there quiet enough to keep the man from bothering ya.

My thought is that there's no way straight pipes are worth any chance of extra imperial attention.

Having said that, I'm really tired of one of those damn ricers out rumbling me with their stupid little gay looking froo froo mobiles. If you put some nice 8" straights on there, you could be fighting back, and if you get a ticket, you'd be taking one for the team.

We have huge ass motors, and huge ass everything, so why are we letting ourselves get out huge assed in the sound department by some crappy little rice mobiles?

That's for sure, look at your truck. Man, you don't even have a windshield. You should try a little wax, maybe it would look a little nicer.

brian 09-03-2007 06:43 PM

windshield? theres not even a cab to put a windshield in!
