I'm here...I've been pulling for Atlas Van Lines' biggest booking/revenue producing agent, and they have kept me BUSY. I like the idea of doubles, and have seen alot of "other" van lines, aside from the big hitters pulling them. But, I think that the downside would greatly outweigh the upsides of them. A benefit is in a tight neighborhood you can drop one and pull one through....load/unload and then switch out...which would sure help things out, in the case of havng a 75 foot long tractor/trailer, with only one pivot point in the middle. A downside I can think of right off hand, is that you stop and drop your second trailer, and unload a shipment on the main one...now you're going to have to switch trailers around AGAIN b/c your now empty one that's hooked to you, is lighter than your 1/2 way loaded dropped trailer...now you have to switch them around...the next day you stop off and load onto your now empty trailer and it overflows onto the 1/2 empty one..welp..you guessed it..switch them around again...in the HHG world especially during the summer, when you're unloading or loading everyday...this could become VERY tedious.
