driver got DOT'd yesterday.

Level 1 inspection on I-90 at a rest stop in Syracuse. 2 violations.

-one pushrod stroke was 2-1/8"
-2 brake lines were touching each other.....not chaffed, just touching.

I'd say that one's legit can't remember but susposed to be 1-1/3/4" I think :?:

I had a DOT man write me up (company truck) for my trailer pigtail rubbing the catwalk. He said that it may be chaffing in the future.
Took a 1 hot second to braid it into the air lines. :P

my electrical line rubs on my catwalk, it's done that for years and it's fine. I need it to be longer then the air lines or it will wreck the electrical connections in the plug.

Yep-You can be pinched if they're not a foot off the catwalk
Rarely enforced but you can catch a ticket

I can't remember either, but it also depends on the brakes. I noticed a sticker on one of our trailers the other day that said something like "ATTENTION INSPECTOR: THIS VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH LONG STROKE PUSH RODS. OUT OF SERVICE LIMIT IS AT [blank]." I can't remember what [blank] was, but it was quite high, 2" plus.

when we were still hauling our own sod we had one of our drivers get pulled over off the highway by a state patrol officeer that was passing him because his bungee broke and the air lines and electrical cord were touching the catwalk. he made the driver fix it on the spot if I remember right.

This was a 30 chamber. Max allowed is 2". He dinged me for an 1/8". Kinda picky I thought.

Anyway, there was no fine.....kind of a written warnimg. I wnoder how that affects my safety rating for pre-pass.

I got the scoop on this during my audit with DOT last week. It will not effect your rating or cause any flags to go up...BUT...if you do get pulled in for any reason they will see that note and check to see if it has been fixed.
