How do you guys get a fax from a truck?
K....I was about to e-mail Steve or G-man about this 1, but thought I would open it up to everyone in case it might help everyone.
I will hope to get my letter from the IRS and IFTA back soon so I can start bidding on loads (still waiting for those 2 items) A big advantage seems to be if you could fax from the truck? Steve said he could, b ut when I asked me tech guy (my nephew) he didnt see how to get a connection from the cell phone to the fax.....or do you guys use some kind of satellite connection? |
www.efax.com plus a scanner. I assume you'll have an internet connection in the truck, though.

I'm happy with myfax. Get yourself a decent all-in-one printer and you're good to go. When did you file your IFTA? You're looking at 4 weeks or so, although they might speed up a little bit since the major rush is now over. What are you waiting for from the IRS, 2290?

yup, the service that filed it said the IRS will mail me som e letter, n went as fast as I could for IFTA, just runs longer here in CA but I did have them expidite it.

I use Efax and very happy with it. When you sign up they give you a fax number in the area code of your choice like your home town. You give Efax your email address also. When someone sends you a fax it comes in the form of an email with the fax attached. You click on the attachment and it brings up the Efax program and you can see all the pages of the fax. At that point I print it out. It's usually a 12 page thing. I sign all the forms and fill in all the information. Then I click on the option to scan and fax. It asks me for each page at a time until I'm done then it asks for a phone number to send the fax to and it goes.
I have a cheap printer/scanner/copier that I bought at Walmart for $80. It works great. You will use the copy feature to make a copy of the signed bill of laden after you deliver. |

I use eFax. I know some folks who use other services that are s'posed to be cheaper but I'm happy with eFax.

You can scan your signature once, then use the little "stamp" icon to sign and date rate sheets. And there's a text box in that top menu bar that you can place anywhere on the page, that allows you to type any text that's needed on new contracts, etc. It can be a real pain to print out and scan 10 or 15 pages if you have to set up with a new broker while on the road. Using those extra features makes it A LOT easier. |
