I have been taking a look at driving tanker with Quality Carriers. QC doesn't seem to need anyone new right at this moment, but I continue to check out lots of options.

What lanes are you mostly running? Obviously Dana has plenty of loads even in this market.

I too applied to QC,they would not even return my call,so I stopped at one of their terminals and talked to one of the managers he was nice enough of a guy just didn't have any openings at the moment gave me an app and I turned it in but never heard back from them.

In my research I found out alot of bad things about QC,not getting paid,and shortages on settlements don't think they have the best reputation but I was pretty set on going there thinking that they were the biggest tanker outfit that they could keep me running.I think I have made the better choice for me,sometimes what works for others is not always best for some.

So far these are the trips I have taken

Midland,MI--->Reading,PA
Philadelphia,PA--->Milwaukee,WI
Crestwood,IL--->Cincinnati,OH
Columbus,OH--->Baltimore,MD
Perth Amboy,NJ---->La Porte,TX
Deer Park,TX---->Adairsville,GA
Columbus,GA---->Wyandotte,MI
Detroit,MI---->Peoria,IL
Crestwood,IL---->Muskegon,MI
Midland,MI---->Reading,PA
Baltimore,MD---->Joliet,IL
Crestwood,IL----->Cleveland,OH..round trip

Mike3... I would suggest you investigate getting your tractor set with Intransit Heater and air assist unload valve. Intransit heat can safe you a ton of unload time...if you want it. Can also save you if the receiver cries "foul" over a load arriving that was loaded hot...but not kept hot.


Paul......There are several Tanker companies out there that are good to work with. Mike3 has told ya about Dana/Suttle...Dana bought out Liquid Transport Corp out of Indiana last year.

My list of other decent companies to talk to are:

1; Slay Transportation ......Saint Louis MO.

2; Fort Transfer ................Morton IL.

3: Linden Transport...........Linden NJ.

4; Ergon Trucking..............Jackson MS.

There are other companies out there...but for me..along with Dana..those are the ones I am talking with.

Superior Carriers Atlanta Terminal is looking for both O/O's and company drivers. They say the have lots more work than they can handle. Are they a good outfit? I am mainly thinking of O/O but I have talked to serval company drivers who have tried to talk me into being a company driver, and they have a lot of good points. Any thoughts?

BTW I really LOVE your charging mosse thing! Where did you find that?

My truck is equipped with intransit heat and air compressor(also pump)
but the stuff was loaded at 230 degrees and intransit heat would've had a reverse effect lowering the temp to the truck temp and was stated on bills not to use intransit heat,I didn't mind I slept and got paid....

If you read Cyanide's post titled tanker info for ya'll he talks pretty highly of Superior and according to his post's he seems to do pretty well on the pay side.

I am an O/O so I am biased,but I don't think you could go wrong as a company driver pulling tanker,I know most of the guys I have talked to here have been happy.

Well hmmm,lets see.

Roughly I think I should be able to do $1.30+ a mile being an O/O,and it cost me roughly .80-.90 a mile to operate my truck.

From reading Cyanide's post I would think you could do .45+ cpm driving as a company driver.

Now you choose....lol

Superior Transport pay's their Driver's by percentage..and the lower your experience is, the lower the pay is. There is a Superior Terminal here in my area (20 miles away). The company I work for as a driver right now pay's .39 cents per hub mile, and $13.25 an hour at the gate. No overtime. I have had to many $900 take home checks the last 1 1/2 years, so I am gonna buy another truck...upgrade the truck I already have leased to a flatbed company (bro drive's it) and pull tanks for one of those companies I stated earlier.

If I were to put out a second tier of companies that I would work for, that tier would go something like this.

1: Dupre Transport......Lafayette LA.

2: Enterprise Transportation & Products Company...Houston TX.

3: Miller Transporters Inc......... Jackson MS.

4: Superior Transportation....Oak Brook IL.

5: Tranport Service Company.....Hinsdale IL.



Just how I would list my choices.

I have a correction to make on my first settlement I missed 1 FSC and the corrected income was $4754.52 = $1.48@mile all miles,and $1.90@loaded mile

Now for another update 2nd settlement was $3686.24

Total miles 2575 for 1.43@mile for all miles

Deadhead miles of 143 or .05% =$1.52@mile for loaded miles
