Maintenance Fund
What is a norm for a weekly maintenance fund? Is there a certian percentage of your net one should save? I've been putting away around $800 per week into my maintenance fund. It seems that when you get it built up something goes wrong. I just spent $1,800 in repairs and maintenance.

That is the reason for having a maintenance fund. Just be glad you have the money in the account when you need it. There will come a time when your maintenance fund will continue to grow and you could use the fund to buy a newer truck and pay cash, if you so choose.

It also gives you a good idea if you're cutting your margins too short. If you can't put money into some type of savings, either you're working too cheap, or your truck expenses are too high.

$800 a WEEK? $41,000/year? I can't imagine spending that much on mait. After about three years you'll have enough in your account to buy a truck for cash.
Depends on how many miles you run. Most stuff wears out based on mileage. |

Don't get me wrong, the more is better..it's still your money. But i'd say if you need more thn $300 a week, it's time to say good bye, to that truck. On the other hand, if you can afford it, it's a good thing, could buy your next truck for cash, in a 3 years! 8) :D |
