no need for a backhaul out of there but if for some reason a guy really wanted one he could pick something up in prince george BC or edmonton AB depending on how he came home.

it`d probably pay around 14 grand to go up there, I probably woulda jumped on it as I coulda took some time off to see buddies in the yukon but i`m gonna be swamped till thursday night as is my wifes driver doing the local crap so I have no one to get in my truck, but if its still there thursday.... 8)

As of 10:15 pm it's not on the Landstar board. Well, it ain't happening, not for me, anyway. It made for a nice fantasy earlier in the year. Back then you said it might already be snowing. I've already done blowing golfball-sized flakes in Ontario this year, now, the Yukon..., Alaska...!? Not me.

Other thing is, the Lord has MIGHTILY blessed me in this first truck purchase. Last week, I paid off the 2001, 790,000 mile sweet running Century class I bought last February. Not talking show truck here, we're talking running great and no truck payment. And, sometimes I get a little sloppy out there dialing my cell phone in construction zones or driving when I ought to be napping...no accidents, no nothing, it could not have been better. So now I've ratcheted it down a little bit, getting out of the truck, clearing my head, trying to stay fresh and on top of things.

I say all that to say this, I've got a little leverage in my one truck trucking business, not a snowball's chance in Miami I'm going to risk it all for an up close look at a moose. It was a nice thought though. Maybe some June after I've invested in a new(er) one :)

Sounds like things are going good for you! My truck will be paid if in a year. I can't wait!

Keep that truck running, and you'll make good money.

Congratulations, Cam. It is a great feeling to have a truck paid for and not have to worry about making those payments every month. If you want to upgrade, you may try putting the amount of the payments in a savings account until you get enough to upgrade. You could have a newer truck without the payment. I met a guy once who traded this way every 2 years. It sure takes a lot of pressure off once that truck is actually yours. :D

Friends of mine just left for Anchorage yesterday from NH. Almost 5,000 miles. The mover is being paid $38,000. Air Force is paying.

That probably includes full pack and most likely a full van. You're looking at big linehaul to an o/o :)

From what he was told was that they are paying for a hefty deadhead back.
On another note, this is the second time I've seen this situation. Both people are under the age of 30 and are Pharmacists who were hired by the Air Force and paid in excess of $70,000 salary. There are a million Pharmacists over the age of 55 who served in Vietnam and are working at CVS getting paid crap but they can't have those jobs because they are too old to sign up by the Air Force requirements. Sounds like there needs to be an exception for certain jobs.
