cheap freight

Sorry, i just have to rant real quick about these #######brokers and them #### drivers taking these cheap ##### loads out of here. I'm sitting since 2 days, but i will not!!!! take loads hardly paying fuel money.800 miles paying $656, another one 575 miles paying 375. What's wrong with these ppl????Doesn't the drivers understand they are just hurting themselves if they takes these cheap ass loads????

From what area?

South Florida o' course, i don't know of any other areas with these prices......

When going to S. FL most drivers plan on deadheading out on the first place, so dont even take a load that doesnt warrant deadheading to Jacksonville or even further North.... most drivers see a backhaul as something they can pick up underway out that helps to pay for fuel....

I hear ya. Today's story. One of many.

BROKER (Dynasty): $550 from Bingo, NY to Kitchener, ON. But we're taking offers. Oh by the way, it requires driver assist on both ends....and it's 10 feet wide by 11'6" high. Picks up today delivers Monday.

ME: OK, I have an empty step deck in Williamsport, PA. He can be in Binghamton in a couple of hours.....I need $1000 and I need to deliver midnight tonight or Saturday morning.

BROKER: What? You want $1000 for 300 miles? Are you serious?

ME: It takes me 200 miles out of route, so it's 500 miles for me. And I've gotta get permits. My costs are 2.00 per mile. You're getting a deal.

BROKER: They're not paying for dead miles. No way. Not for $1,000.

ME: Thanks anyway.

So we're going home empty again. But at least we're not wasting time at the shipper, customer and border.....being somebody elses sucker.

They didn't think so.

How much do you think the customer was paying for that 300 miles of overdimension freight? $2,000? I can just imagine the other side of the conversation...."I know sir, but the problem is it's a wide load. The carrier will want alot for that".

Gee willickers Mr. Booth, weren't you just critiquing my genuine error in spelling? Surely you don't find it plausible to start making your own now
