What does this say? That Cat's are a dime a dozen, and Cummins are hard to come by, and are in high demand. Are you trying to tell me that Peterbilt Inc. is only building a few trucks with Cummins engines and most of the Peterbilts coming out of the factory have CAT's under the hood because Cummins are in high demand? If they are in high demand wouldn't Peterbilt build most of them with Cummins engines if everyone is wanting them? Maybe you should call them up in Denton and advise them of this. Brand new 379 with a Cummins, 10 spd, 63" sleeper: $119,450 Brand new 379 with a Cat, 10 spd, 63" sleeper: $117,200 Total number of NEW 379's available with a Cummins: 21 Total number of NEW 379's available with a Cat: 332 Total number of NEW 2006 379's with a Cummins: 6 Total number of NEW 2006 379's with a Cat: 77 I know this firsthand, as the original truck I had money down on (which had a Cummins) was sold out from under me by the dealership, while the trucks with Cat's sat festering on the lot. Neither. I bought it last June. |

It runs along the same lines as the problem they had with Detroit around 2000. Detroit made a limited amount of engines available to Peterbilt. But hey - if you want to blindly believe what your inept dealer is telling you, go ahead. I'll wave to you when you are broke down on the side of the road. |

That being said, CAT owners are very proud of their purchases, I mean you always see them parked on the side of the road showing off that yellow engine. |
