"fire extinguisher inside" sign required?

Does DOT require the sign "fire extinguisher inside" on the side of my truck?

My company says no, it is not required. I do not have it on my truck, I did get a warning for having my side box locked one time, so I moved my extingusher next to my seat.

Some one my say different, but I was told by a DOT officer that the only thing required on your truck is the DOT number and your company name, city and state of the company is not required.

This is what I have

I only put this on because the fire ext is NOT visible, in case maybe the firefighters want to know where it is.

Not sure but I think you need it marked UNLESS they can easily see it.

No I dont believe it is a requirment, however its cheap insurance. I was considering not placing it on our trucks, then again I hope if a driver is knocked out, and for some reason someone else needs the fire extinguisher they dont have to look all over the place.

Refer to 393.95 Emergency equipment on all power units.

It doesnt say a sign is needed.

Flying Hook does have them cheap though
