Rates per lane
How can I find out the average rate per lane without paying alot of money? Truckloadrate.com wants 30.00 a month. That's a little too much for me right now seeing as how I need it more for learning than making a living.
Also, where can I find info on inbound and outbound trucks per city or state? I've seen some people post this info before but I'm not sure where they get it other than loadboards, which right now I can't subscribe to. I don't have an MC# |

The load boards really don't display what the rates are. Most want you to call to get the numbers. I don't think your going to get a real answer to your question. I've seen rates that are published go from $1.10 to $3.00 per mile all over the country. There are no set rates for lanes as far as I can tell.

there is such a gap in rates you have shown how can you use them to make a decision?
Not all freight goes from major city to major city either. Rates are weird. And hard to figure out. I've had a guy pay $4.00 per mile with 4 skids of french fries Yet a truckload bearly breaks $1.75 going to the same place I am looking on Internet truckstop 575 Philly to Uxbridge Mass I do work for a carrier who gets 1450 from Philly area to Leominster, Mass ( 2 loads a day with a 5 year contract!) How are you supposed to figure out rates? |
In the first example the first number is the average rate per mile, and the second number is the average cost of fuel in that lane. It's not two different rates. So 1.47 is the average per mile rate and 2.39 is the average cost of fuel in that lane.
I see what your saying as well though about the rates and how they can vary. Perhaps using that table is not very effective as far as everyday business practice, but I was going to keep an eye on it more for research, if I can find it. |
Don't know where you got that chart but it doesn't show the lanes from the Midwest to the East Coast-I think you'd find a better Freight rate. Outgoing from the Midwest to the East. Coming back out is usually a different story.

No, oh I didn't read his post right.
That Philly rate is so far off the charts from what the boards offer. I had no idea that that kind of $$$ was out there. If I went in and asked for that kind of $ they would throw me out on my behind. And yet thats what they are getting. And when I talk to the owner of the trucking co he acts like "what, isn't everyone getting that rate?" So, rates will drive you nuts. |
