xm or sirius radios
 

Anyone using a decent xm or sirius radio in their truck? I have one of those sirius recievers that sends an fm signal thru your truck antenna and then back thru the truck radio, works great..as long as you stay close to home! You have to tune the truck radio to a vacant fm station, then match the sirius radio to that frequency, problem is, as I move across the state, the pre selected fm frequency becomes occupied , so I have to change both radios frequencies again to get a signal, big pain in the patoot. Id like to find a stereo reciever for the truck with am, fm and xm or sirius allready installled, they dont seem to make one aftermarket, perhaps I need to find one from a wrecked newer car? ANyone running xm?

Changing the signal is going to be the same from either sirous or xm. It only takes me 10 seconds to change my sirous.

You could dry disconnecting the antenna to your stereo. The signal from the satellite radio may be strong enough at that close a distance for it to work but not pick up other stations. If that works you could buy an on/off switch for the antenna from Radio Shack to turn it on and off depending if you want to listen to XM or FM.

On my Sirius Streamer, there is an output to connect a LINE OUT, where you can hardwire the unit to the radio. I'm not sure if all of them are the same, but it is possible that they are.

And, of course, you could always go to Best Buy and purchase a satellite-ready radio, and then put a Satellite receiver in it:

I believe Circut City sells a device that will hard wire the reciever to your stereo.If I remember right it was about $20.I have been in some places in this country where there is no empty stations for the FM modulator to use and that's a pain in the butt.

I run Sirius and love it. On the Starmate Replay model on the left there is a button that scrolls thru the preselected frequencies or you can user define one for your area(s) you roll thru. Match a bank of presets on the head unit in the truck for the numbers you need and bam, the hit of two buttons, one of the Replay and one on the headunit and you have them matched when interference is in the way.

This is in company trucks, in something I owned I would do it right and get the signal to the head unit with line outs or better yet an entire new unit that is Sat ready.

I run this radio and love it. Over the years that I have had sat radio I have purchased alot of things thru that website and they are the greatest. Usually ship things within moments of receiving the order.
