Default Cummings Icon idle control system

Just wondering if someone know a little more about this.My volvo has a cummings engine along with this icon system that shuts off the truck after every 3 minutes or so.Very very annoying!!!I was going to have it disabled but after going to a Cummings shop and talking to a volvo dealer i was told they can't have it disabled.

Is that true? Anybody knows more about this?Right now i'm fixing my climate control unit on it,looks like the thermostat is out, and is costing me like $800, 500 being only the part.I was hoping to be able to idle my truck as much as i want and need, without the use of this climate unit that is supposed to start and stop the engine at a set temp. I really don't idle a lot, since i hate any engine noises when i sleep and prefer to have it off,but sometimes, when you have the triple digits you really need a cool place.

Any sugestions would be apreciate it.

What year is it? What state are you domiciled in? For the last few years any trucks ordered/delivered/sold to be domiciled in CA have idle limits set. Takes a bit of work to have it changed.

I've never heard of a "cummings" engine. Are they a new manufacturer?

Are you talking about the "certified clean idle" sticker on the hood?

Those trucks cannot have that setting modified, as per California law.

If they are purchased and domiciled out of the state of CA the setting can be changed. It is a real hassle to get done though.

Got to love a country where we have forgotten who the customer is.

Go to a truckstop and use IdleAire, problem solved.

"Excuse me, Mr. Customer, while I am being delayed for hours, I am going to drive 50 miles away to cool my truck at an IdleAire site!". Yes, that is a solution!?!

BTW, I tried not to idle my truck. How the next driver idles his truck, or the owner of the equipment allows is his business. Having state and federal laws mandating this is a big problem of this country.
