Extended warranty was 3 year, 300,000 miles. The truck only has 190,000 miles on it, but the 3 years is up. The engine is 5 year, 500,000 miles.

BTW, it's 2008. 2005 + 3 = 2008. 8)

So a 2008 T660 doesn't start last Sunday morning. Mechanic arrives and whacks starter with hammer. Truck starts. Bad starter covered under warranty (pars only, not labour) right? Wrong.

Kenworth dealer says it's not the starter, it's corroded terminals. We cleaned them and you're on your way. Not only does KW not have to pay for a new starter, when it happens again, we are on the hook for a missed P/U or del, more labour and down time.

That's thing that I dis-like about warranties. You pay up front for something that they never have to give you.

Yeah starters can be a bitch, screw up once then work fine for months.. but it's definitely screwed.

The only corroded terminal would be the solenoid... if it was the main wires you'd have many many problems.

As far as warranty, I thought tranny and diffs were something like 750,000 miles unlimited time?

The catch to this warranty is the oil change intervals. You MUST change the fluids in your transmission and rears at a certain interval. I believe it is 250,000 miles.
