I said "how close to the pick-up time" not how long after you booked the load.

Did they cancel an hour before you were supposed to pick-up or a day before? Or somewhere in between?

I agree, put the feedback on ITS. I had one broker that didn't pay for 45 days and they advertised 30. I reported the pay period and noticed there days to pay went up on the load boards. I got a call from them like a month later to haul a load when I posted my truck and the rate agreement said 15 days to pay. I took the load, they paid quick and I updated there performance.

The Onion Connection always pays me quicker then the load board says so I always go in and report them as quicker pay. Most people I think only report on bad news instead of good news also.

I hauled a drilling fluid pump from houma Louisiana to rock springs Wyoming and they tried canceling after i`d been under the load for a good 80 miles already, I told em thanks for the free $150,000 mud pump and their reply was will pay as agreed

How many others have had a broker try to take back a load after you already had it???

How many others have had a broker try to take back a load after you already had it???

I had one to try and cancel the next day after I had it on the truck. I made changes to their contract which they didn't agree. I delivered as agreed and they paid as agreed. I doubt whether we will do business again because I refuse to sign their contract as worded. I was told that were a lot of carriers who had a problem with the wording of their agreement. There were several clauses in their agreement which I didn't agree. There were several changes I made to the agreement. I don't sign any agreement which is totally one sided in favor of the broker. If there is something which I don't agree, then I either make changes or don't sign it. A contract should state what is expected from each party and what should happen should either party fail to keep their part of the agreement.

Usually if you have called that broker and been dispatched on that load, if they cancel and not offer another load they will usually pay TONU. If they offer another load there is the CATCH-22. Fax them an invoice for TONU and then call them to see if they received it. If they wont pay you, yes report the hello out of them.

It seems to me that even if you did try to cooperate with a broker who wanted to cancel the day after you had the load, you could get in the middle of some liability thing. I mean where is your protection in something like that?

The contract is the key to TONU and just about everything else. If there's not specific language in the contract or the rate confirmation, you don't have a leg to stand on, no matter when the load cancels. Unless they try and cancel once you're under the load, haven't run into that one :shock: I'd welcome it though. Anytime you have the opportunity to rewrite a rate confirmation while the load is on your trailer, you should be making money.

While I've never submitted a negative report, I've been told that the loadboard will want copies of the supporting documents. That they won't just post negative information based on hearsay.
