I've considered giving it a shot myself for quite some time now, but keep chickening out and continue saving money.
I'm curious, what pay option did you choose?
I personally would stay on the national board and go with pay option one, because Crete certainly does have the freight to keep you rolling with low deadhead nationally. 8)
If you chose pay option two, I'd be interested to hear your logic why.
Please continue to post how you're doing in the future. No pressure, but how well you do could be the difference between me taking the plunge or remaining a company driver! :P
Congrats and good luck!

You might want to reconsider this. I'm assuming this is some sort of escrow account that, if you choose, they will take $50/month or so until it reaches $1-$2000 and they pay interest at the current 90-day t-bill rate? By just paying in the minimum allowed monthly, you are essentially borrowing money at 0%. Rarely is this not a good deal 8) You can earn a much better return on your own so why not take advantage? Sure it's a relatively small amount of money but as you'll find out, this is a low-margin business. You make money where you can. More than that, it's about getting into a habit of good business practice.

Well, we're talking negligible amounts so for all practical purposes it doesn't make much difference. However, it is about getting in the habit of making sound money decisions. For instance, many people say they don't take free advances because they don't have to. But, if someone is willing to lend you money at no interest for a week, that's a good deal. The only time none of this makes sense is if there's a question of being able to pay it back. If you're making good decisions from the start this should never be an issue.

Thanks. One would think that this is common sense. If you can't find ways to save money. It's going to be really tough to be profitable in this biz. I just figured that that $25 a week would be one less expense I'd have to incur. But your post makes sense to me. I think I'll just have it deducted out at %0 interest and use that money to put new (recap) drives on the truck.
BTW I took this load  origin: Richmond, VA, destination: Windsor, WI; 1068 miles

It's gonna be actually almost impassible, at the rate of compensation you'll be getting! IMHO :?

If I listened to what other people said, I wouldn't even have a CDL.
As you can probably tell my mind is made up. I'm through asking others who don't know me or my situation what I should or shouldn't do.
And now this thread is going to take a turn down negative ave.
And that's the reason I've changed my mind on doing a blog. If I do well people will challenge the numbers I post, if I fail then others have the "I told you so" rights. I just don't care to hear it, I've been warned repeatedly. Go back and read the first post on this thread, do you really think that I havent done any research :?:
 P.S.- If you're an O/O and can't make a $1006 /month truck payment, then there's no hope for any O/O's at Crete.
