Advice needed

It looks like most driving jobs are for experienced drivers only. Any advice for a new driver on what to do or where to start getting some experience?

Unfortunately, unless you know someone whom has insurance that will allow them to train you, the "System" has been re-rigged to force you into a "Training" company, such as Swift, Knight Transportation, Werner and the like.

You really just need to be persistent and keep on looking and keep on applying. You'll find one eventually. When you're in truck driving school they like to make you believe that you're going to get rich in this industry, that you're going to walk out of school and find a job the next day and be set. Liars. Just don't give up. It's never easy to get started in something new and you'll always have the people who like to **** on you and think they're better than you just because you're a rookie. They were rookies too. When I first got started I got a job with US Xpress. They would buy you a bus ticket out to Medway Ohio and after a 3 day orientation you would hopefully start your training which can take a couple months, sometimes even longer. Once you complete your training you would go back to a terminal to get road tested and to have a truck assigned and then you would finally be on your own. You could also try to apply with other big companies like Swift. If you have no priors and a clean license I don't see why they wouldnt give you a shot. All these big companies have revolving doors and they would be more than happy to make a pretty penny off of you, at least for as long as you can stand dealing with them.

I found someone on here who was looking for a team driver and was willing to take a student driver. Maybe you can also. Good luck.

You need to exhaust all the options there's always one person who will hire you. Keep that in mind and the job will be yours. Never back down Cheers!

In any industry, the green-horn gets the short stick. geosmith, I agree, just keep talking to people, and networking showing you're available. Having a good facebook and twitter account can go a long way in making connections. Good luck to you.
