Well, I quit my job and tried selling cars.......that sucked

I think driving a truck is the only option.....I've been applying to as many construction jobs as I can and nobody will hire me. Anybody know of any good Truck Driving Schools in the San Francisco Bay Area? Do they have assistance for paying for the class? Do I need to go to school? Can I get a job with a trucking company that will train me?

rookie37 08-23-2012 06:08 AM

I just applied to Werner and C.R. England online.............wish me luck!

Well do you want to drive a truck or not? And do a search for CR England and decide if you really want to go with them.

shyykatt 08-26-2012 01:01 AM

Do more research.

rookie37 08-26-2012 06:11 AM

I've done more research and it seems that any company that will hire a person and train them sucks........I'm what they call "stuck between a rock and a hard place"........it's either that or jump off a bridge.

LogBook 08-26-2012 06:55 AM

i dont know how you research your info, not all company that train also suck, yes they put out time and cash to train you and do hold you bye the balls to get the cost back from you. some will make you a emplorey and some will try and get you to pay there bills. i would be happy to surjrst were you should look to start......but your oping statment to this post tell me you looking for a pay-ck and not a carear. we have tomany ppl in this carear that are feeding the big company and bring down trucking and the way we were the heros of the roads or helping creat a bad image. not syting all that come into trucking today but most have no bussness out here. rethink why your doing this. its a difrent tyip of living not just a job. i grew up in a truck most the old timers did, dads, uncles and family. it was in the blood.

good luck my friend, think about what i said(not the best writer i know) run from CR. restate why you want to do this and you will get a lot better info as well direction from many others

Well CRE might get you closer to a bridge. If you go with them do yourself a favor. Pay for school do NOT finance with them. Visa or Mastercard are better slave owners.

Instigator 08-26-2012 02:34 PM

Keep searching for companies that train. I know CR England has many complaints against them. If you have access to a truck stop pick up the free trucking magazines they are full of companies willing to train. Also will you qualify to drive? Do you have a clean driving record with no DUI's ? If its not clean dont even bother, you wont get employment. You can also try USA Truck, Schneider, I think they train as well. Good luck!

ground_pounder 08-26-2012 08:00 PM

and you want to work for a company that has metal detectors and rent a cops for all the people they ****ed over?? why when theres better training companies out there!!

ground_pounder 08-26-2012 08:02 PM

ground_pounder 09-03-2012 03:37 PM

yup i think he has jumped off the bridge

rookie37 09-04-2012 01:46 AM

No, I found a job selling cars again...................It sounds like the less *****tier job............I will have to tough it out doing that.................sounds better than getting screwed over by Werner or C.R. England........or should I say sounds less worse?

MichiganDriver 09-04-2012 03:49 AM

What?!?! You're back to selling cars? I think you owe us details. :)

LogBook 09-04-2012 07:44 AM

well i think we helped save a soul..........

rookie37 09-05-2012 04:07 AM

Well, after doing some research as advised on here I found some real horror stories. One where a guy was trained through CR England and then was fired, so CR came after him for $5000 or something like that, for the training........screw that!

Tami Paulus 09-05-2012 08:12 AM

Yes, you can get a job with a trucking company that will train you. CRST. But I suggest you research about it before you think of joining. Because it means that you will have to sign a contract with them for a period of time. and if you want to quit or you lose the job before that, you have to pay them upto 11K. joining a school would be a better option if you have the funds for it.

ground_pounder 09-05-2012 02:18 PM

well atleast this poster is doing his research first before grabbin the keys and driving off under the sunset. i highly agree with tami that it would be better to go through a school as there more regulated by the dmv. run like hell from england. have you tried looking for local jobs driving construction companies? i would just save my money and goto a school instead of going though company training. and you do know that these training companies keep the seats cold because they also get a kick back from the goverment for each student they train as well as your tution didn't you??

dennis in se pa 09-06-2012 06:46 PM

You might want to try Roehl. If they are still training/hiring. I got my feet wet with them. Not a bad outfit. They are in Wisconsin.
