Why pay them $100 ?

I'm starting with Prime next week. :-)

Why am I required to pay them $100 upon arrival? What is that for? Actually, I think it is $150 & the $50 goes toward a learner's permit, but I've already got that.

Oh, I'll pay it, but it does seem a little off kilter.

wow ... I've never heard of paying a company for hiring me to work for them .... Why would a permit cost $50.00 ? .. is that the cost of them in the area you live? .... Before heading out to attend ... I believe I'd call them and ask for questions on where this money is suppose to go to??. From what I've heard of Prime .... Don't Sign A Lease to use their trucks .... their big on convincing new drivers to do this .... baddddd idea ! Good luck.

It does sound odd, an employee haveing to pay the employer? I wonder if in that state you have to pay for the cost of the test and license?
One way to find out , call and ask.

I am guessing they are getting you a CDL from MO or whatever state you are doing your training in. If you don't have a MO learner's permit would you not have to get one? I can't imagine that you can walk in with an OK learners permit and walk out with a MO CDL>does this make sense?

MGFG, apparently out of state permits are good in MO. It only makes sense that they would be since, as a learner/student, I'd need to be able to drive (with a trainer of course) across state lines. After a few weeks with a trainer, I'll take my CDL test in MO & then transfer it to my home state of TN first chance I get.

I would bet that those costs are associated with your cdl, which I am pretty sure the company cannot pay for.

Be prepared to pay more for whatever type equipment you will need for the division you're in.

Flatbed equipment for example is around $1200..but don't worry they take it out a little each week!

LOL!!!!
