What does 1099 mean?

I was just reading this thread http://www.classadrivers.com/forum/t...lp-please.html, and several people mentioned being 1099'd. What does this mean?

It has to do with taxes on our paycheck.

As a "contractor" per se, the company will issue you a form 1099 instead of the traditional W-2 at the end of the year so you can file your taxes. As a 1099'd driver, YOU are responsible for taking out your own self employment and any other taxes you might face as a contractor, but at least your self employment taxes.

If your a company driver it means your getting the shaft. Run dont walk away from any job that pays company drivers on 1099s
