Hazmat placarded freight that is food grade product???
I have been pulling a tanker for a couple of years and I often carry a chemical called tetrapotasium pyrophosphate. It is used as an additve to cement, concrete, and rubber among other things.
I have also hauled this hazmat placarded product to plants that MANUFACTURE FOOD PRODUCTS!! It also is used in food grade products toothpaste, marshmallows, frozen food and chicken nuggets!! Of course it is not in its pure form. I was suprised when one of the loaders was telling me it can be used so many ways. It requires corrosive placards to haul!! A while back I hauled an Inhalation hazard placarded load to a place that made cough syrup. I am sure some of you tanker yankers have hauled hazmat loads to food places before. |
My venison chili is extremely hazardous.
I'm sure it would require an Explosives placard. |
I have hauled pure caffeine in the tank many times, along with Coca-Cola syrup. Both will eat thru a metal floor in about an hour. The caffeine will kill you if you ingest more than .01grams or get it on your skin and do not wash it off.
As for inhalation harards, I have ran everything from Cyanide (sp?) to Formaldehyde to Phillip-Morris Tobacco in NC....... wonderful what they put in your smokes huh? LOL |
