Breaking Wind Myths
From this . . Wind causes massive problems across Frederick County - wtop.com
I gleaned this . . "A tractor-trailer is like a race car" he said. "The faster it goes the more there is to take if off the ground," Cooney said. Bill Cooney, owner of Blue Mountain Express Inc. I don't think Bill was clear with his analysis. Anyone care to attempt an interpretation? A cross wind can blow over a light/empty trailer sitting still. Is he saying that an increase in truck speed would require more or less wind to blow it over? What is the significance of wind direction? Unrelated to the topic . . "We can't count the man-hours spent waiting," he said. They appear to be a mail carrier. The only mail driver I've ever met was paid by the mile. In other words, the drivers would have "spent the man hours" and not the employer. Any mail drivers care to render an opinion? |
Sounds like he was saying that the faster the truck goes the easier it is to flip it:
Drivers weren't allowed to cross bridges empty, and they had to drive slowly. A tractor-trailer is like a race car, he said. "The faster it goes the more there is to take if off the ground," Cooney said. |

"Best thing you can do is find a place to park that shields the truck from the wind" Or pull a skateboard. I thought this thread was about an entirely different subject. BOL
