Should I be Saving My Receipts?

It's tax time again. I only drive locally, but sometimes I go 150 miles from our "terminal". Is there any tax deductions available to me? No overnight travel.

Nope. If you are home on a daily basis, you cannot right off any of those expenses.

I'm home everynight and have written off expenses for the last 6 years, boots, gloves, meal allowance, cb radio, antennas, the list goes on. I've got a good tax lady with H&R Block whose husband is a driver, hell we even write off the phone bill, just some of the benefits of being a driver. So I beg to differ, save your receipts and find a good agent who will help you.

That's the answer I was wanting :)

I wouldn't have bought my iphone if it wasn't for me being in the truck for 12+ hours.

I only need to fill out a 1040EZ. I wonder if the extra expense of paying someone to get me the deductions is worth it.

compare your expenses to the standard deduction which is 9350 single or 18700 for a married joint return. If you itemize you may not be able to take these deductions and you probably can't do a 1040EZ either.

Just put a (D) next to your last name, and you won't have to pay any taxes. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...nd10/shrug.gif

Granted I don't get quite the deductions as an OTR driver does, but I'm just simply saying it is worth your while to save your receipts and invest your time in finding a tax man/woman who is knowledgeable in this field of work, it will go a long way.
